OOPArt, definition and study. A-Z index of Cognitio.
OOPArt (artifacts, out-of-the-way finds) is a term coined by American naturalist and American cryptozoology Ivan Sanderson to name a category of objects that seem to have a difficult historical location, that would represent anachronism. OOPArt lists all those archeological or paleontological finds that, according to common beliefs about the past, are supposed to have existed in the period referring to the initial dating. According to the interpretations of some OOPArt supporters, some of these objects would put the scientific theories and consolidated historical knowledge into crisis.
OOPArt that are still to be verified
Cuzco ( the ancient capital of Peru)
it is some sites in Peru: in a resort called Hatun Rumiyoc there are huge complexes built with diorite blocks, many of them with a weight of several tons, modeled with such precision that it seems to many incompatible with technologies era.
Puma Punku: “Puma Penku” means “Puma Gate”.
Many of the mysteries of this site in Bolivia. But at one point all archaeologists seem to agree, their dating. The ruins, attributed to the equally mysterious Tiahuanaco civilization – developed between Bolivia, Chile, and Peru – date back to 500-600 BC These are megalithic sandstone structures.
Nan Madol and some sites in Micronesia.
Here is what is considered to be the most important find of those found throughout the South Seas. These are the ruins of a large temple, a structure that measures 90 meters long and 18 in width, with walls that in 1874 were nine feet high and at the ground level were about one and a half feet thick.
The mortar with pestle.
Found in Table Mountain (California), in Tuolumne County, on a layer of rock dating back to the Tertiary and dated between 33 and 55 million years. However, there are no signs of human processing on the object, and it is therefore plausible that these are simple natural stones, and that they come close to each other, make a mortar with its pestle.
Microscopic objects (nanospheres)
That would be found on the banks of the Narada river in Russia on the Urals chain, formed by descriptions, spiral-wound elements, some of a few millimeters, copper, tungsten and molybdenum, interpreted as ancient examples of nanotechnology.
Baigong tubes in China.
Metal tubes found in a cave in Qinghai Province, and nearby, interpreted differently as artificial artifacts, ancient pipelines, or as natural formations. Further studies are now impeded by the fact that the Chinese authorities use the site as a tourist attraction.
A 23 cm long metal iron prosthesis in the mummy leg of Usermontu
Priest dating back to the XXIth Egyptian dynasty. It is believed that the “prosthesis” has been put into the mummification stage of the body in view of the resurrection, so it is a posthumous repair.
A newspaper of 1891 reports the discovery of a gold chain in Morrisonville.
Illinois, found, in the story, in a piece of coal and always according to the article, dating back 300 million years ago, rediscovered by part of the newspaper editor’s wife, SW Culp.
Wilburton Iron Cup Found in 1912 in a Wilburton mine in Oklahoma
By Frank J.Kenwood in a coal block. Classification as OOPArt is based on anecdotal stories and the object since the 1960s has been used as a tool for Creationist propaganda.
The Fuente Magna a vessel re-found in Bolivia, in 1950 with presumed cuneiform Sumerian and Proto-Sumerian engravings.
Treasure City’s life is said to have been discovered in the United States.
In 1869 in Treasure City (a country of gold seekers now abandoned in the state of Nevada), one of those finds classified as OOPArt, or “artifact found out of place” by the supporters of mysterious archeology. In a layer of rock, the apparent imprint of a 5.08 cm long screw would be found. The vine that was supposed to have been made of ferrous material has now completely disappeared, but imprinted in the rock there is the photographed form of the object.
The findings of Hueyatlaco, on which there is controversy about dating.
The Baghdad battery.
Dating back to 250 BC and 250 DC, are currently held about a dozen in the Iraqi Museum of Baghdad. It is made up of a ceramic jar containing a metal seal that wound an iron cylinder which in turn had an asphalt stopper.
The jar of Dorchester, Massachusetts (USA), believed dated to 320 million years ago.
The Ica stones of Peru depicting scenes dating back to 65 million years ago. About 15,000 stones were found.
The Skull of Zambia.
Or “Broken Hill Skull”, a human skull that is said to date from 150 to 300,000 years ago, presents a perfect hole without radial lines, such as that left by a gunshot from the left temple fire.
Within the geodesy of Coso.
Originally dated to 500,000 years old, a metallic object was found. Despite its name, it is not a real geode but a clay lump where a piece of the nail has also been found.
The crystal skulls, attributed to pre-Columbian civilizations.
The metal spheres of Klerksdorp, South Africa, which something is man’s work.
The Hammer of London, Texas (USA), according to some dates dating 115 million years as the rocks of the area where it was found.
The alleged human fossil finger, dating back 100 million years ago, is found in the Walnut cretaceous formation of Comanche Peak located in a reserve in New Mexico.
Papyrus Tulli, an Egyptian document describing UFOs.
The so-called map of the Creator (also known as Daška’s Stone)
Found in Baschiria, Russia. Erroneously dated to at least 20 million years ago and depicting the territory 120 million years ago. In an interview with Stargate – Border Line, Čuvyrov, the author of the discovery, said the map represents huge canalization, which has been explored through geological exploration.
The statues of Acambaro.
A small town near Guanajuato, New Mexico, were discovered in 1945 and featured dinosaurs including a brontosaurus, ankylosaurus, and iguanodonts and dated from scientific analysis about 2,500 years ago. Anti-evolutionists are considered a proof of the contemporary existence of humans and dinosaurs.
The records of Bayan Kara Ula (internationally known as droppings records)
Found to be found in Nimu’s locality, in the Sichuan Chinese region, stone disks in the center and interpreted as extra-terrestrial artifacts.
Based on the objects that some beliefs are OOPArt, some theoretical alternative models have been developed for the universally accepted reconstruction of some prehistoric facts:
The “theory of alternation of advanced civilizations,” or “catastrophic theory”, suggests that many “technologically and/or spiritually evolved” civilizations may have developed into different forms or characteristics similar to the contemporary world. Supporters of this theory think that the massive mass extinctions that have been documented in the Earth’s history, each of which has extinguished a consistent percentage of living species, may have destroyed already-evolved civilizations.
The “theory of alien intervention” or “ancient astronauts” suggests that the Earth has been visited and/or colonized by one or more extraterrestrial species, in this case extremely similar to humans, with traces found in several geologically ancient sites.
According to different interpretations of this theory, any aliens landed on Earth, though without leaving traces, could have indirectly influenced prehistoric human beings, similarly to what was happening in modern times with the phenomenon of the worship of the cargo.
