Arizona, discovered an ancient cosmic calendar with over 1,000 petroglyphs. Perhaps a Time machine for the Gods? Original article by Alessandro Brizzi.

As reported by the BBC, the researchers found an ancient calendar carved into the stone that has remained hidden for almost a thousand years. According to experts, it is likely that they created more than 1,000 petroglyphs as a way to “track time” using the Sun. According to the Arizona Daily Sun tabloid, about 1,000 intricate petroglyphs were carved into the rock more than 900 years ago by the people of Sinagua Southern.

The culture of Sinagua inhabited the region between the seventh and fifteenth centuries, cultivating in the region, corn, cotton, pumpkin and beans. More than thousands of symbols have been engraved by an ancient man in the distant past on the red rocks of the historic V-Bar-V site. At first glance, these symbols may seem almost impossible to decipher when a symbol is engraved next to each other. However, what the experts did not know was that they needed the help of the sun. Once the sun is in the right place, each symbol tells a different story. Now, experts believe that the red rocks in Arizona’s Green Valley may have been used by ancient cultures as a calendar, or even as a device that helped them track the weather using the Sun. It’s a time machine for the Gods to tell you it’s time for a ceremony.

The symbols engraved in the stone were carved in a complicated way to mark the seasons and the beginning of important agricultural periods, using only the position of the Sun. The researchers found that at the beginning of the summer, and the longest day of the year, two specific containers of Arizona Green Valley cast a shadow on a corn plant. Six months later, the sun is shining in the central space. According to the BBC, this ancient calendar has remained undetected for centuries, until in 2005 volunteers did not rediscover it on the site. The researchers found that as the sun changed position in the sky, it lit and cast shadows on the sculpted features, aligning itself with specie images that had an agricultural and ceremonial meaning.

Some of the petroglyphs highlight the solstices, the equinox and other important astronomical events during the year. Kenneth Zoll, executive director of the Green Valley Center and the Museum of Archeology, said in an interview with the BBC: “This was a way to keep track of time”. However, experts point out that the calendar created by the people of Sinagua is not the only one that exists. It is a very advanced calendar and there are many other calendars in the Green Valley, which may have been used by the inhabitants of the region to track time and important astronomical events. These calendars and symbols may have been the work of ancient cosmic travelers, who have taught local tribes at other nearby sites to follow the Sun.
